September 29 Special Coralville City Election & Early Voting Information

Voters in Coralville will select a new City Council member on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, following the resignation of long-time City Councilor Tom Gill. The successful candidate will be sworn in after the canvass on October 6 and complete the remainder of the term, which ends December 31, 2021. Elections are managed by the Johnson County Auditor’s Office.

About the Candidates
Four candidates are seeking one at large seat on the Coralville City Council: Barry Bedford, Nick Burrell, Hai Huynh, and Heather Seitsinger.

Early Voting
In-person early voting is available weekdays from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, September 14-28, 2020, at the Johnson County Auditor’s Office, 913 S. Dubuque Street, Suite 101, in Iowa City. Masks are required.

To vote by absentee ballot, the deadline to request an absentee ballot to be mailed to you is September 18, 2020 at 5:00 pm. When you return your completed absentee ballot by mail, the postmark deadline is September 28. Mailed absentee ballots may also be returned in person to the Auditor’s Office until 8:00 pm on September 29.

Voting on Election Day
Voters who wish to vote in-person on Election Day must vote at their polling place on September 29. Coralville polling places are open from 7:00 am until 8:00 pm on election day. Voters are asked to show a driver’s license, non-driver’s ID, passport, military ID, veterans ID, tribal ID, or Voter ID Card before they vote.

  • Coralville 1 (Senate District 37/House District 74): Coralville Public Library, 1401 5th St.
  • Coralville 2 (Senate District 37/House District 74): Brown Deer Golf Club, 1900 Country Club Dr.
  • Coralville 3 (Senate District 37/House District 74): Temporary location: Kirkwood Regional Center, 2301 Oakdale Blvd.
  • Coralville 4 (Senate District 37/House District 74): Coralville City Hall, 1512 7th St.
  • Coralville 5 (Senate District 37/House District 74): Northwest Junior High, 1507 8th St.
  • Coralville 6 (Senate District 37/House District 74): Wickham School, 601 Oakdale Blvd.
  • Coralville 7 (Senate District 37/House District 74): North Ridge Pavilion, 2250 Holiday Rd.

Voter Registration
If you are not registered to vote in Iowa, September 18, 2020 at 5:00 pm is the pre-registration deadline. Voters may still register after this date using the Election Day Registration procedure: you may register and vote on election day by going to the correct polling place for your current address on election day. Election Day voter registration information
