Updated:  May 22, 2013

Want to help sandbag? Below are the locations in Coralville and Iowa City where volunteers should go to to offer assistance.

Coralville
Sandbagging volunteers are needed from 8 am until dark on Friday, June 13, at the Coralville Streets Department at 750 Camp Cardinal Boulevard. This is located south of Highway 6 across from McGregor's Furniture. Volunteer assistance is appreciated for any length of time and gloves and shovels are recommended.
Volunteers should take Coralville strip (Hwy 6) to Camp Cardinal Road. Turn south on Camp Cardinal Road and take the first right (west) and look for the igloo. There will be people outside directing volunteers.

Iowa City
Effective immediately, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, volunteer sandbaggers in east Iowa City should report to the Volunteer Staging Location at Regina High School on Rochester Avenue. Volunteers will park at Regina and be transported by bus to locations where they are needed. Volunteers in west Iowa City should report to the volunteer staging location at the University Commuter Parking Lot on Hawkeye Park Road north of West High School and be transported by bus to locations where they are needed. Buses will leave on the hour.

Volunteers should not try to drive themselves to sandbagging locations and should not attempt to cross the river to reach one of the staging locations. Advisory to volunteers and to all residents of Iowa City: If you live in east Iowa City, stay in east Iowa City; if you live in west Iowa City, stay in west Iowa City.

Call City Hall Flood Hotline 887-6202(24/7) for current active locations that need baggers. Bring gloves and shovel if you have them.
