Posted May 12, 2021

After 10 years of service, Janelle Rettig resigned from the Johnson County Board of Supervisors on April 18. This has prompted a special election on June 8th to select a new member of the Board of Supervisors.

Recent changes to state law will be in effect with this election. This influences many of the dates around this election.

May 24th at 5 p.m. Deadline to pre-register and request an absentee ballot. This has recently changed. Election day registration and in-person early voting at the county auditor’s office are still available after this date.

May 31st – The auditor’s office is closed due to Memorial day.

June 7th – This is the last day for in-person early voting at the auditor’s office.

June 8th – Election day! You can vote in-person at regular polling places from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Satellite voting sites will not be in use. Polls now close an hour earlier. Absentee ballots must be returned to the auditor’s office before 8 p.m.

If you want to register online before May 24th, you can register online via the DOT’s website or using this form. The form must be turned in to the auditor’s office before 5 p.m. on May 24th.

To request an absentee ballot, use this form. Like the registration form, this must be returned to the county auditor before 5 p.m. on May 24th.
